Travel Diaries works because it gives you something to follow. Each lesson is built around a diary entry written by someone on a real journey, in natural German, about an ordinary day. Not a textbook dialogue, not a list of phrases for the airport. Just a person describing what happened, the way they would to a friend.

Here is a real sample from one of Karl's diary entries in Season 2. He and Birgit are on the river cruise and have just arrived in Passau, on the German-Austrian border.
Passau liegt an der deutsch-österreichischen Grenze, und ist eine romantische Stadt an der Donau, umgeben von grünen Hügeln und voller bunter kleiner Häuser. Zugegebenermaßen sind wir schon etwas erschöpft von den letzten Tagen… und trotzdem konnte ich vor Aufregung nicht schlafen. So haben wir uns heute nicht mehr vorgenommen, als uns in aller Ruhe die barocken Gebäude der Altstadt und die Zwiebeltürme des Stephansdoms anzuschauen.
Das Wetter war heute schon viel besser und wir konnten gemütlich durch die Gassen der Altstadt spazieren. Hoffentlich bleibt es weiterhin so! In einem der kleinen Läden hat Birgit ein Kleid gesehen, das ihr sehr gefiel. Sie hat es lange angeschaut und sogar anprobiert, es aber dann doch nicht gekauft. „Jetzt brauche ich vorerst kein neues Kleid für große Anlässe“, meinte sie lachend.

Andrea and Mark go through the whole entry: the vocabulary, the grammar and the turns of phrase that make it sound like a native speaker wrote it.
The video pronunciation practice replays the text with a pause after every phrase, so you can repeat it properly rather than just recognising it.
Travel Diaries is written for intermediate learners, roughly B1 to B2. You should be comfortable with the present and the past, and ready to spend time with longer stretches of real German rather than single sentences.
